WBA featherweight champion Nick Ball tops a card in his home city of Liverpool for the second fight running when he takes on TJ Doheny on Saturday.
The fight comes five months after Ball (21-0-1, 12KOs) forced a tenth-round stoppage of Ronny Rios at the M&S Bank Arena in what was the first defence of his world title since winning it with a split-decision victory over Ray Ford last June.
Meanwhile, Doheny (26-5, 20KOs) suffered a seventh-round stoppage to pound-for-pound star Naoya Inoue in somewhat anti-climactic fashion back in September.
The loss condemned Ireland’s Doheny to his fifth career defeat in 31 fights.

A fight with Naoya Inoue could be on the horizon for Nick Ball
Despite facing-off against Doheny this weekend, it’s another man whose name is being increasingly intertwined by belt-holder Ball this week.
The aforementioned Japanese sensation Naoya Inoue, who has won world titles in four separate weight divisions, two of which saw him become undisputed champion, is being tipped for a future bout with the Liverpudlian.
Having made the jump up to super-bantamweight in 2023, Inoue has cleaned up all the belts and a move to featherweight looks to be on the cards in the near future.
A meeting with the champions at 126lbs is therefore likely to top Inoue’s wish list – a small group which includes WBA champion Ball.
He himself admits a fight with Inoue seems inevitable.
Speaking to Queensberry Promotions‘ YouTube channel, he said: “It’s been spoken about that much for it not to happen.
“I believe that it will happen, yeah. But my main focus is my next fight, get the job done there and then think about that in the future.”
