Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin confirmed in an interview with ProBoxingFans that he has been approached about a potential fight versus Anthony Joshua next.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn plans for ‘AJ’ to return on December 17th for a first fight since his rematch defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in August. A number of names had been rumoured to face the thirty-two-year-old including veteran Chris Arreola, but it appears Wallin has officially received a call to clash with the former two-time heavyweight champion.
Talks were held with Tyson Fury over a potential fight between the two British heavyweights in what would still have proved one of the biggest fights in British boxing history. However, despite reportedly passing a number of key hurdles, talks broke down between the two camps who appeared to run out of time with a mooted December 3rd date looming.
Fury now looks likely to face Dereck Chisora in a trilogy bout while the search for an opponent for Joshua goes on.
